As everyone around the world has by now heard, Osama bin Laden has been killed by U.S. Navy SEALs. This brings the end of an almost 10 year search for the mastermind of the 9/11 attacks on the United States of America. It is a day that most of the world has rejoiced. The man who has been considered the cause of more chaos across the globe than anyone else in our history is now dead. At least for now, the Earth is able to breathe easily. But what does this have to do with the title of this blog?
This is an occasion that most will consider to be our truly country's celebratory moment of our generation. I will consider it mine at least. And it comes at a time when this great nation is at a time most would describe the closest to a depression that we have had since the 1930's. This country has encountered so much sadness and tragedies in the past 25 years to last anyone a lifetime. Two space shuttle disasters, Oklahoma City, Hurricane Katrina, 9/11, as well as other terrorist attacks, not to mention other weather and natural disasters and Bill Buckner booting a ground ball in the 1986 World Series. This event Sunday night has given alot of families closure from an event almost 10 years old.
Like I said, this is my generation's celebration. My father's generation had the moon landing and my grandfather's would have to be the end of World War II (V-J Day). Our celebration has been long overdue and I hope my children won't have to wait as long as we did. My hat's off to our military. Thank you all and let's hope you will all be home soon.
